07. - Video - This is not my beautiful house

[Chuck is in a suit. The room he is in appears to be a den, but a big one - high-end computers can be seen in the background, as well as several framed magazime covers - think "Tony Stark Wants To Save The World" - but they're all about Charles Carmichael, computer whiz kid and brilliant, visionary CEO of the software giant ENCOM (because he is not above a gratuitous Tron reference and neither am I). He flails his arms a bit, lost for words.]

Wh--I--

What's going on?!

[There is also a Stanford degree on the wall, dated 2003. Guess who didn't get kicked out of college?]
batmanschmatman: (Yes I'm quite pleased with myself thanks)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-20 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an excellent question.

Looks like someone's counterpart is pretty successful.

He is totally wondering if his counterpart has built a Batcave right now.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

Let's just say that Mr. Carmichael and I have a lot of history together.

What about you? You look older. And way more like Bryce.

[Derp. Way to go. CHUCK, YOU HAVE NO BRAIN/MOUTH FILTER.]
batmanschmatman: (Suburbia: Your mind's in suburbia.)

lololol if he has, Dick wants to know about it B]

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm married, with a kid, and I'm apparently a cop.

Okay, two questions: have you met your counterpart before, and who's Bryce?

I am...seriously wanting to make this happen :B

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
In a manner of speaking. This is kind of...

[He bites his lip.]

It's kind of where I expected I'd be by now, after Stanford. You know. Too young to retire, too rich to work.

[He hesitates.] Bryce is...was my friend. We were college roommates. He framed me for cheating on a midterm and I got kicked out twelve credits away from my degree. He's made my life pretty interesting since then.

[And how.]
batmanschmatman: (Okay)

C: - oh and look, it's a Bryce icon for you :3

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
So, this is basically your dream life? If Bryce hadn't screwed everything up?

I dearly wish I had the icon of Chuck with a dart on his head uploaded so I could use it now. xD

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Or at least, what it used to be.
batmanschmatman: (I know you know.)

lololol <3

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Way to be cryptic, Bartowski.

xD

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry! It's kind of a habit.

I just can't really imagine life without Sarah. And I don't see anything of hers here.
batmanschmatman: (Run that by me again.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Find any photo albums or anything?

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
No...? Oh, hold on, I think I see something.

[He walks over to a bookshelf and picks up what looks like a photo album. It's not huge, but it looks to have some heft to it. He starts flipping through it, and stops abruptly, obviously shocked.]

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's just...she's here. She's in photos. This is a picture of my high school graduation. And she's there. And so's dad.

This isn't right.
batmanschmatman: (I liked being a cop dammit.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Your parents weren't at your graduation? [Not that Bruce had been at his but. That was different.]

His world is going to get rocked SO HARD when I update him to season four

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
No. [He sighs, looking uncomfortable.] Mom left when I was in fifth grade. And dad...dad left when Ellie was old enough to legally take care of me. For the longest time, it was just me and my sister...

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's the past now anyway.

[He shakes his head and closes the album.]

This is just...all of this is so bizarre. This is everything that's gone wrong with my life going right.

And...[here he starts to sound surprised.] ...I don't think I like it.
batmanschmatman: (Glance.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
You know, this might sound weird, but it's nice to know I'm not alone.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh?

Has everything gone Stepford-perfect for you too?
batmanschmatman: (Studious.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Not exactly, but I'm married with a kid and apparently happy living in the suburbs. Feels kind of... empty, I guess.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Now that...is something I wouldn't see coming.

But then again it looks like our resident Klingon general is both female and pregnant, so I highly doubt this is the kind of lotus-eater port where all our dreams come true.
batmanschmatman: (Teasing.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, don't all Klingons long to swap genders and raise families?t

I'm such a nerd I didn't even have to look that up.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not the sort of activity that tends to get you into Sto-Vo-Kor.
batmanschmatman: (Yes I'm quite pleased with myself thanks)

lololol that is pretty win <3

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Dammit Chuck, I'm a cop, not a linguist and/or Star Trek buff.

BRB LOL FOREVER

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's, uh, Klingon heaven. You get there if you die honorably in battle.
batmanschmatman: (Well actually...)

Dick has made that joke surprisingly often here. xD

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-21 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. Maybe he's a weird Klingon then.

But I'm probably gonna go with the theory that this port isn't actually what we really want.

It's a good joke. xD

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that I think would be a safe bet.

[He looks around his new big house, and starts to smile.]

Hey, you think I should throw a party this weekend? Kinda figured I'd do that, you know, if I ever became rich and famous.
batmanschmatman: (I get by with a little help from my bffs)

This is very true. xD

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, why not right? If I recall correctly, throwing parties is what rich people are best at.

[ooc: By the way, so unrelated to this thread, but can Dick block Bourne's punch and push him a little away from Costigan in the detox log? I've been meaning to ask but am a derp and keep forgetting.]

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. All right, awesome. Saturday? Hope we're not gone by then.

[Go right ahead! Jason's just trying to get him unconscious enough to get to the infirmary. Because, knife in shoulder. xD; My AIM's been acting up the past couple days so I haven't been able to get on.]
batmanschmatman: (Kind of a badass.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'll see if the department can give me the night off. Assuming I'm invited, of course.

[ooc: Bad aim, be nice to Alex. >| And awesome, tyyyy <3]

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to tell you about a party and then not invite you. That's way too passive-aggressive for my tastes. Of course you're invited.
batmanschmatman: (Teasing.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I was teasing. Should I hire a babysitter or do you want to meet my adorable, hyperactive son better known as Wally West? [And he continues to tease. He's still kinda wtfing over Wally being his kid.]

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Wh--

I--

The Flash--

Your kid--

You're gonna have to bear with me for a second. My brain hurts.
batmanschmatman: (Officer Grayson.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Believe me, mine does too.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
So have we come to the conclusion that this is the Admiral's fault and he's just screwing with us?
batmanschmatman: (Well you know...)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Think so. Unless my deepest, darkest wish for my future is to adopt my deaged best friend and marry a woman I've never met.

[identity profile] scruffynerdhrdr.livejournal.com 2011-01-22 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'd doubt that.

[Sigh.] Well, I guess I'd better start planning the party. A good party takes lots of work...good luck on the beat today.
batmanschmatman: (Kind of a badass.)

[personal profile] batmanschmatman 2011-01-22 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks Mr. Carmichael. Let me know if you need any help planning, I've had a little bit of experience with rich people parties.
